Bridgnorth Railway Station is part of the Severn Valley Railway which still runs steam passenger trains between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth, some sixteen miles between the counties of Worcestershire and Shropshire. The line was completed and up and running in 1862, and just over a century later it was closed in 1963. But in 1965 a group of local railway enthusiasts had a meeting to discuss buying the line from British Railways, which they did, and in 1970 it was running trains again. It is largely run by unpaid volunteers.
