Low Town To High Town

St Mary Magdalene Bridgnorth

Photograph taken August 2016, St Mary Magdalene church from the River Severn, Bridgnorth, Shropshire. © Pete Hillman 2016. Camera used Nikon D7200, with Nikon 18-55mm lens.

I took this image from the old stone Bridgnorth Bridge which crosses the River Severn. It shows the layers of a part of the town from the river to the church at the top. Note the exposed Bridgnorth sandstone just above the river which represent fossilised sand dunes. These were part of a vast desert that once existed around 299 million years ago.

Please see my post ‘Just Gone Noon’ in relation to this.
