Another World

Other World

This is a tiny water droplet probably less than 1mm (0.04in) in diameter on the underside of a leaf. To get an idea of scale the leaf vein is just at the opposite corner of the picture.

Within that water droplet could be another world, with its own universe and its own sun and moon. With its own lands and people.

If you click on the image, and click a second time, and gaze long enough into the tiny orb of water, you may just get a glimpse of this other world …

July 2017.

  1. The final enlargement seems to show some sort of mysterious creature holding up a glowing orb. Is that a reflection, or something inside the droplet, or a combination of both? It’s quite a photo, Pete!

    • I hadn’t seen the mysterious creature until you mentioned it, then I did a double take and the hairs raised up on the back of my neck. It’s a combination of both, I believe Thank you, Linda ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. What a wonderful, fantastic photo Pete! It reminds me in some ways of the William Blake poem:
To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
    And Eternity in an hour.
